Indian Army to get a new uniform designed by NIFT.
Keeping in line with Make in India, the uniform of the soldiers has been designed jointly by the Indian Army & National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
While the uniform will be first showcased at the Army Day Parade on 15 January, it will start getting issued to officers and soldiers in batches.
Unlike the current practice, wherein the soldier can buy cloth from the market and get his uniform stitched, the new disruptive-patterned cloth won’t be available in the open market. The design which is based on disruptive digital patterns has been created keeping in mind the comfort and different terrains where the soldiers are deployed.
